Tamil Nadu urban local body election result: BJP alleges ‘abuse of power, violence’ after abysmal result

The ruling DMK is heading for a sweep in Tamil Nadu’s urban local body elections on Tuesday. According to the latest results / trends, the DMK had won more than 50% of the total of the 200 districts. The main opposition AIADMK was far behind in the results. Polling was held on Saturday for 12,607 positions in 21 companies, 138 municipalities and 490 city panchayats. Government hits pro-Khalistani groups, blocks SFJ-linked Punjab Politics TV apps and websites

On Tuesday, the government, in a new crackdown on banned group Sikhs for Justice, banned Punjab Politics TV apps, websites and social media accounts. The channel is affiliated with the SFJ and also has close ties with Khalistani supporters. SFJ is banned in India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967. February 18 to block digital media resources of Punjab Politics TV,” the I&B Ministry said in a statement. Read more

Air fares could fall as India-Dubai flights are on track to reach pre-COVID levels
