Special Ramadan for the Fijian Muslim Community as we will be celebrating Eid without any COVID-19 restrictions this year – Khan

Hafiz-Ud-Dean Khan, President of the Muslim League of Fiji.

As the Muslim community begins their month of fasting or Ramadan for Eid, the Muslim League of Fiji says it will be a particularly special month for them as they will not be subject to any specific COVID-19 restrictions.

League President Hafiz-Ud-Dean Khan says they have had very secluded and locked down celebrations for the past two years so this is going to be very special and they are looking forward to it.

Khan says, however, that while the restrictions are being lifted, they are asking people to follow certain rules, including social distancing in mosques and maintaining personal hygiene.

He adds that Ramadan is a month when they do a lot more charity and food distribution.

Eid should be celebrated on May 1.
