AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Following a series of events targeting mosques in Puget Sound, community members held a peaceful rally on Friday at the Islamic Center in Olympia, Wash., To support the Muslim community.

Members of the community, various religious leaders and neighbors gathered in front of the Islamic Center in Olympia to greet the members as they walked towards the afternoon prayer.

According to CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, someone threatened the Islamic center last week.

CAIR said someone in a car dropped a device in front of the Islamic Center and exploded.

A boom was heard by people miles away. Fortunately, no one got hurt.

The community gathered on Friday for a peaceful rally aimed at strengthening the Muslim community.

“We want our friends and colleagues who come here to have their church service and know that they are a welcome part of our community and it is a safe place for them to come together,” said neighbor Dallas Roberts.

“Just to say, ‘we see you,’ said Reverend Mary Gear of the United Universalist Congregation at Olympia. “We are here with you. We support you and we love you. We love you.”

“There have been three mosque attacks in the past month and a half, in addition to an attacked Sikh temple and several churches. So I think it’s very important that our communities come together to show each other that we are there for each other. To show solidarity and show that we can move on from these incidents and fight hate, ”said Imraan Siddiqi, Executive Director of CAIR-W.

In October, someone deliberately set fire to a mosque in Tacoma. Authorities arrested a suspected arsonist.

Around the same time, someone stole and vandalized religious artifacts from a mosque in Mountlake Terrace.

CAIR is pushing for a thorough police investigation.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Department does not believe the recent incident at the Islamic Center in Olympia was a targeted attack.

However, they said they were increasing the patrols.
