NIPC to facilitate the creation of a Nigeria-Chad business council
The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission is committed to working with relevant governments to establish the Nigeria-Chad Joint Business Council.
The NIPC made this commitment during a meeting between its leadership and a trade delegation from the Republic of Chad, led by the Nigerian Ambassador to Chad, Sadique Abubakar, and his counterpart, the Chadian Ambassador to Nigeria, Abakar. Saleh Chahaimi, in Abuja on Friday, according to a statement.
NIPC Acting Executive Secretary and Managing Director Mr. Emeka Offor said: âThe NIPC will facilitate the establishment of the Joint Works Council through our mandate to encourage, promote and coordinate investments in the country.
âBoth countries recognize the potential value of informal business activities across their borders. It is therefore necessary to formalize the commercial activities between the two countries, âsaid Chahaimi.
He suggested that the NIPC translate its Book of States into French.
He said this would allow Chadian businessmen to understand and appreciate Nigeria’s investment environment.
For his part, Abubakar said he was particularly interested in increasing trade and investment between the two countries since taking office in January 2021.
The council, the statement said, is expected to serve as a platform for developing stronger trade ties and improving bilateral trade and investment flows between the two countries.
